Step by Step Art 5 – Christmas in the Classroom
The activities are in themes for easy access but don’t necessarily have to be interpreted as such. Themes can however have considerable impact if they are followed, for example down a corridor or around a resource area.
Each example in the book is illustrated for easy understanding as well as being described in detail. The materials needed for each activity are listed, and the “What to do“ section outlines the instructions the teacher needs to give when working through an activity with the children.
The examples are not divided into Key Stages. Choice of activity is left to the discretion of teachers, their knowledge of the children in their class and their own confidence in their approach to Art and Design activities. Most of the examples are appropriate to any Key Stage including the Foundation Stage, though some could be elaborated or simplified accordingly.
